Currently a Cognitive Psychologist, Jay holds a BA in Psychology/English and an MA & PhD in Experimental Psychology.

 

Before joining Haworth as an Organizational Behavior Specialist in 1997, Jay was Associate Professor of Psychology at Loma Linda U, CA, where he helped develop PhD & PsyD programs, both now accredited by the American Psychological Association. Prior to that, he served as Chair of the Department of Psychology at La Sierra U in Riverside, CA. He participates as an adjunct professor at Andrews U, Hope College, Grand Valley State U, and Davenport U.

 

A national & international speaker currently on ASID’s Distinguished Speaker Series (’05-’08), Jay has given over 300 presentations and authored over 60 publications.  An associate editor of Ergonomics in Design, former newsletter editor for the Environmental Design TG of HFES, editorial reviewer for Ergonomics, Journal of Psychology & Christianity, Spine, several publishers, and various professional conferences, Jay has conducted many pre/post-occupancy evaluations, adjacency & work process analyses; consulted on organizational strategy, workplace strategy, organizational culture, knowledge worker productivity, implementing & evaluating human factors & ergonomics programs, and organizational strategic alignment.

 

A past Public Director on the AIA’s national board, Jay is also a member of the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology, the Association for Psychological Science, the Human Factors & Ergonomics Society, the American Psychological Association, and Sigma Xi, and serves as Haworth’s liaison to the New Ways of Working Network & on EQS’ Productivity Advisory Panel.

 

More personally, Jay enjoys the beach, birding, reading, hiking, jogging, writing & performing music, working out, and writing.
